Bordered by the Coquitlam and Pitt Rivers and backed by majestic mountains to the north, the City also offers one of the finest living and recreational environments on the Lower Mainland of British Columbia.

Home to over 39,000 residents, the City has a labour force of over 14,000 and provides employment for some 8,000 people in a variety of professional, service, commercial and industrial activities. The City infrastructure includes rail, water and trucking terminals as well as excellent housing, health, educational and other community facilities.

Typical of the variety of enterprise located in the City are the CP Rail marshalling yards, Western Assembly International Services, Scott Poultry, Ellett Copper & Brass Ltd., and the International Submarine Research Company.
