City of
Port Coquitlam The City of Port Coquitlam is located within the Greater Vancouver Regional District, approximately 30 minutes from downtown Vancouver. The location is ideally suited for a variety of industrial and commercial uses.
Bordered by the Coquitlam and Pitt Rivers and backed by majestic mountains to the north, the City also offers one of the finest living and recreational environments on the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. Home to over 39,000 residents, the City has a labour force of over 14,000 and provides employment for some 8,000 people in a variety of professional, service, commercial and industrial activities. The City infrastructure includes rail, water and trucking terminals as well as excellent housing, health, educational and other community facilities. Typical of the variety of enterprise located in the City are the CP Rail marshalling yards, Western Assembly International Services, Scott Poultry, Ellett Copper & Brass Ltd., and the International Submarine Research Company. Opportunities for commercial growth and investment are attractive and the proposed Shaughnessy Village Square shopping centre at the intersection of Lougheed Highway and Shaughnessy Street is typical of the style and quality of the City's continued and rapid growth. Expansion of single family and apartment housing has been impressive and the City now includes over 14,000 homes. Over 80% of these residences are owner occupied and they range from exclusive detached homes to economical multiple dwelling condominium units. A wealth of recreational and sports programs is available for all age groups as are opportunities for outdoor activity in the Nature Reserve Area, the PoCo Trail and the City's well maintained neighbourhood parks. With a rapidly growing population and
a well established commercial and industrial base, the City of Port Coquitlam is well
positioned to accommodate new investment in housing, retailing, manufacturing, service and
other activities.
